Fore-Carpathian Trough, Boryslavsko-Pokutskiy Thrust

South-western outskirt of Kosiv City. Course of Rybnytsya River

Stratigraphic, geomorphologic.

Along the 300 m distance over river course and in both river banks there occur the section of lower part of Menilitova Suite of Ombronskiy regio-division (35 Ma) composed of alternating black argillite piles and lenses of green conglomerates. Up the section, in Polyanytska Suite of Eger regio-division (25 Ma), there is a pile of platy silicified aleurolites which is known in geological references as “Gouk beds”. Further up occur green conglomerate pile with olistolite rocks from Menilitova Suite. Although there is clear gradual replacement in the section with conformable bed layering, the question of relationships between Oligocene and Miocene rocks is still under discussion. There are benches over the distance of 100 m and waterfall 2.5 m high.

The object is of stratigraphic importance since there are observed and studied relationships between Oligocene flysch and Miocene molassa. The waterfall has esthetic value. Ecological conditions are suitable.

Close to object there is motor way from where walk pass to the object.

Legally the object as geological landmark is not defined yet. It is suggested to give the status of regional-rank landmark.
