TRANSFRONTAL COLLABORATION OF TRANSCARPATHIA

Throughout the years Transcarpathia is the permanent participant of all the European Union neighborhood programs which operate on the east EU border: TACIS, INTERREG, FARE, CADSES, ENPI. As a result, there is a number of successful projects carried out in the region. These are the realized Project of Social Medical Rehabilitation of Children in Regional Children’s Hospital, the “Clean Water” Project of Development of Waste Waters Treatment System, the Projects of Flood Protection Works and Flood-control Measures in the regional rivers’ basins, the Project of Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Major Repairs of Access Roads are carried out at the checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, the range of Tourist Informative Centers has been founded, a Freight Terminal has been built at the checkpoint Uzhhorod that increased the freight motor transport flow from 150 to 500 per day and “Chop-Zahony” Checkpoint Reconstruction has been conducted on the border with Hungary − on the whole the realized projects amount to more than 10 million Euro. Transcarpathia also collaborates with the separate regions of EU countries within the framework of the signed agreements namely with Maramures and Satu-Mare (Romania). Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg and Heves (Hungary). Kosice and Presov (Slovakia), Wojew dztwo podkarpackie (Poland), Oberfranken (Germany) and Visocina (Czech Republic). This year we are hopeful of new agreements with Alto Adige (Italy), Burgeland (Austria), Vukovarsko-Srijemska zhupanyja (Croatia) and Kaliningrad region (Russia).
Social and Economic Life of the Region
Stable and progressive development of financial and economic industries is aimed at assisting social sphere of development since the increase of welfare of Transcarpathians, social support of the unprotected layers of population are the basic tasks of the regional power. By the index of human development the region is included into the best five of Ukraine. So it is logical to form the strategy directed on creation of new efficient workplaces on the basis of use of qualitative characteristics of labour resources.
