External Carpathians, Krosnenska Zone

Velykyi Bereznyi area, western outskirt of Uzhok village. Right branch of Gusniy Stream

Tectonic.

In the beautiful gully of the Gusniy Stream, in the course and banks of its right branch over 300 m, in the Oligocene Krosnenska Suite flysch sediments within aleurolites and argillites occur numerous differently-rolled blocks 10 cm to 1 m in size composed of Precambrian green schists, high-grade white marbles, pelitomorphic limestones and shell-rock limestones. This portion of the section comprises olistos-trome suggesting for mixed-age cordillera close to the Oligocene sedimentation basin. Based on the exposure conditions and occurrence of different age and composition olistolites, Oligocene sediments of Gusniy Stream location could be defined as typically olistostrome.

Ecological conditions are suitable.

Accessible by motor-car up to the first right branch of Gusniy Stream, then walk up stream. 700 m to the south from the village church.

Legally the object as geological landmark is not defined yet.

It is suggested to give the status of geological regional-rank landmark.
