Institution Credo: “Tourism and Sports is a Diversified Type of Education”

The basic criteria of work for the Transcarpathian Students Center of Tourism, Regional History, Excursions and Sports is to offer the widest array of curriculum which addresses the needs of the upcoming generation. There are 55 groups working in 14 profiles, and a total of 750 students study at the centre. Students of the Centre take an active part in championships of Ukraine, international competitions on sporting orientation, alpine skiing, hiking, water activities and cycle touring. Within the framework of these competitions about 40 persons became the candidates in sport masters and 30 more got a rank of masters of sport of Ukraine. On the world championship among juniors in Poland the command of Ukraine took the 13th place of 30 commands, and on European cup of 1995 in Slovakia – became the fourth, and in the relay race – the third. Tourist commands on sporting orientation gained the lead in Israel and Portugal. On winter Olympic games of 2010 in Vancouver (Canada), Anna-Mariya Chundak, the student of the Center, won the 16 place in the mountain downhill skiing (snowboarding).

The mass ascents of Hoverla, Pikuy, Stoy, Polonyna Rivna and other mountains, devoted to the prominent dates in Ukrainian history, became a tradition within the society members. The members of the young speleologists section of “Kazhan” attained considerable results in the research of caves of Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi and Autonomous Republic of Crimea regions.

In 1996 the first All-Ukrainian Jamboree was conducted by the Centre and it gathered over 900 of young boys and girls from Ukraine, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, France and other countries of the world.
