Nadvirna area, western outskirt of Pniv village. Left bank of Bystrytsya Nadvirnyanska River

48° 37′ N lat; 24° 30′ E long.

Cliff. Square 2 hectares

Stratigraphic, tectonic.

In the rocky bank of Bystrytsya Nadvirnyanska River (up to 70 m high and 300 m long) there exposes pile of variable-rhythmic intercalation of black bituminous flaky argillites and thick lens-like sandstone layers. These rocks are defined as Oligocene — Lower Miocene (Ombronsk-Egersk regional stages, 25-35 Ma). The rocks are folded.

This is typical section of Oligocene flysch rocks in Skybova Zone of External Carpathians which are deformed into numerous and diverse-shaped folds. The section is being permanently presented to all international geological excursions. It has highly impressive appearance and is local landscape decoration.

Ecological conditions are suitable.

There is ll-class motor-car road in front of outcrop from which the cliff is in 200 m by walk cross river sand-bar.

Legally the object as geological landmark is not defined yet.

It is suggested to give the status of geological state-rank landmark.
