Carpathian Biosphere Reserve

Geomorphologic, stratigraphic.

At the upper reaches of Mala Ugolka River (left branch of Tereblya River) in the impressive gully on its left bank, in dense forest there occur cliffs composed of Jurassic light-grey pelitemorphic limestones. Inside one of the cliffs due to karst processes crossing cave had appeared. In the cross-section three tunnels which are linked inside the hill have flat-arch appearance (“karst arch”) up to 2.5-3.0 m high and 5-10 m wide. The distance between arch-shaped roofs is about 8-12 m. Combination of the natural enigmatic relief forms and nice landscape made this object highly impressive.

This landmark together with other neighbor interesting relief forms and caves traditionally attracts tourists from Ukraine and abroad.

Ecological conditions are suitable.

Accessible by motor-car up along Mala Ugolka River to the Administration of Trans-Carpathian Biosphere Reserve then 2.5 km by walk along mountain path. Same as 1.2 km to north-west by azimuth 310° from the top of Pogar Mountain (950.9 m).

Object is under protection of Trans-Carpathian Biosphere Reserve.

It is suggested to give the status of regional-rank counterpart of special geological reserve.
